Rescuing and patrol vessels. |
The magazine Blik re-published in 1971 an article written by Gudni J. Johnsen from 1918, the article discusses the need to acquire rescuing and patrol vessel. To quote the article "When the war stop, as we hope (referring to first world war), it would be good if we could have done something in ensuring that we owned a lifeboat, that could also stop foreign fishing vessels. They will not lay there eyes up on the fact that the ship is not to be expected to be in operation over the summer time. The reason there is not enough work, in herring, transportation etc. However if there is an change and it would be come norm to work at sea both in the summer and winter then it could be justified to operate the ship 365 days a year." The re-published article is accessible in Icelandic only as no English translation exist.
