Huni II is the largest oak vessel in Iceland still floats, built in Shipyard KEA in Akureyri 1962-1963. The ship was at first used  in the herring fisheries and later in cod fishery, then, nets, trawl, lobster, line, nets, and then again in herring fishery. About 1990 the ship had a quota system wanders, when there was a trend for scrapping old boats, especially wooden boat and offer them for other more modern ships. In 1994 bought Thorvald Skaptason boat Seyðisfjörður for 10 ISK, he was without engine and waited for the valiant men put him on new years fire. Thorvaldur went with with the boat from place to place, trying to find a role. He ended up with a whale watching in Hafnarfjörður with his wife Erna. In 2004, the boat sailed to Akureyri, where he founded the company - The Advancement Society of Huns II. In 2006, state, town and KEA ship of Thorvald and brought Iðnaðarsafninu a gift. Gift included the statement that the company The advancement Socety of Huni II should take on the operation of the vessel. Thus, it has been ever since the Huni II prepared a journeies for people, schools and individual projects.
